"WORTH IT" :: a brand collaboration post
I’m switching up my shopping strategies over here: quality over quantity. So when I found this dress online and fell in love with the classic design and 100% cotton shell, I swallowed the $198 price tag and put it in my cart. (I’ll admit, it was purchased with gift certificates but I’m a GC hoarder, okay?) Once it arrived, my new simple, well-made vision for my closet was solidified. This BCBGMAXAZRIA dress – totally worth it.
"white on white: day to night" :: a brand collaboration post with key links
Two pieces that’ll carry me through an entire day – this crop top and a-line mini skirt. Both pieces are conveniently from Zappos collaborations, yet I didn’t choose them with the intention of pairing them together. I’ve been seriously digging this whole matching separates thing so I thought I would give it a try in the safest way possible, with white … here are a couple different styling options for day and night.
As I mentioned before, this skirt was gifted to me as a part of a collaboration that Zappos and I teamed up for. Check out Glance, their new shopping site with collections and suggestions curated just for you. I put together a summer collection that was inspired by resort wear, which you can view here!
"add it on!" :: a mood board with keywords and external links
It’s the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale time of year! Lately, I have been spending my clothing budget on shoes and accessories to make my existing staple clothing items feel new again. It’s amazing what a difference beautiful jewelry, a classic bag, or statement shoes can make. Below are a few of my favorite “add on” pieces that will completely transform your wardrobe. Pssst – they are all under $100!
If these items aren’t enough to satiate your shopping appetite, you can see the rest of the sale here.
"spring style with zappos.com" :: a brand collaboration post with keywords
Welcome to my second post for my collaboration with Zappos! This Bailey 44 crop top is going to get a lot of mileage in my wardrobe. As I mentioned in my first post, I intentionally selected items that fit a specific vision that I have for my spring wardrobe. Classic, neutral colors, streamlined. This top definitely meets that criteria!
I have a few different ideas on how I will style this top but for the chillier spring weather we’ve been experiencing, a longer skirt and leather jacket were the perfect pieces to make this crop top work for this time of year.
"SPRING STYLE WITH ZAPPOS.Com" :: a brand collaboration post with keywords
I am really excited to be teaming up with my friends at Zappos.com for a couple posts this spring! I’ve ordered several items through them in the past and have always loved the product and customer service, so when they reached out to see if I’d like to collaborate, I didn’t hesitate! I took this as the perfect opportunity to check out their newest arrivals and share some spring-time looks with you.
This season I am styling outfits with peeks of skin, whether it be arms, legs, back, or a little midriff, and items embracing a primarily neutral color palette. Upon checking out Zappos’ inventory, I was pleased to find there were numerous items that fit into the vision I have for my Spring 2014 style, and I excitedly selected a few of my favorites that I’m sure will be staples for me this season!

"statement" :: a brand collaboration post with key phrases and links
Sometimes a single piece can completely carry an outfit. In this case, this black and cream striped skirt from Tailor and Stylist was all I needed to make a statement. I went really simple with the styling and matched it with a black tank and black flats. Simple as that!
If you’re new to reading Sidewalk Ready, you may have missed the post where I shared the simple way that I added some special details to these plain flats. I started with a pair of black loafers and just added small gold bows that I discovered at JoAnn Fabrics. They are classic, comfortable, and a little special – just how ladies shoes ought to be. I searched for similar pairs in case you are interested in taking on this easy project. You can find a couple options here and here.
"the new crop" :: a brand collaboration post with key phrases and external links
We are experiencing a pretty significant flashback to the 70s right now and it is making me even more excited for the arrival of sunshine and warm temperatures. I think it’s apparent that the “thing” this summer is going to be cropped tops. This top is one that I recently received from Questhaven Fashions, and because I couldn’t wait for beach weather to bust it out, I paired it over a high waisted maxi skirt to make it more spring appropriate. I also think this is an awesome option for those who are not comfortable baring their midriff. I am so excited to sport it over a swimsuit this summer!
I’d also like to celebrate the appearance of sunglasses in these pictures. Sunshine, for the win! I am loving aviators right now and am considering investing in a more high end pair, particularly these Ray-Bans that I found discounted on SmartBuyGlasses. I love the extra detail on the top bar! What do you guys think about buying designer sunglasses? Do you take care of them, or do they get destroyed? I’m having a hard time deciding.
"polished casual" :: a brand collaboration post
This look is a mix of a couple of my favorite aesthetics, classy and edgy. I based this out around these heels from Tailor and Stylist, but didn’t want it to turn too girly. In order to steer clear of a sugary sweet style, I added the torn jeans and white tee. To top it off, I selected this structured, black blazer to compliment the shoes, and then completed the look with some rose gold jewelry. The result is the perfectly polished, casual outfit!
"Jigsaw london: Day or Night" :: a brand collaboration post
I consider this look day or night appropriate. In fact, I wore it for most of the day on Friday and then also out for a night on the town with friends. I’m a little infatuated with this cardigan from Jigsaw London. I love the asymmetrical button detail and cowl neckline. It’s easy, but special. Exactly my style! I know I will definitely get plenty of use out of this sweater, and it’s so classic that I will likely have it for years to come. These are the types of items that are worth investing in!
"Girly Holiday" :: a multiple brand collaboration post
Hello and welcome to my third collaboration post with Wanted Shoes! This look is for you girly girls out there. I centered this outfit around the adorable Ignite Loafter in nude. They went perfectly with my bouclé blazer and striped turtleneck. When I think of girly fashion, light pink definitely comes to mind, as well not shying away from being matchy-matchy. On top of that, I added a new favorite, my Floating Monogram Pendant from The Trendy Boutique. It’s safe to say that I felt super feminine in this ensemble!
For those of you who have a more androgynous style, I hope you can still get inspiration from this look. Don’t be afraid to layer! In this outfit, I have items both over and under the black dress, and I think it creates a lot of interest. This outfit also took a couple of attempts to get it right, so be sure to try things on before you dismiss them!
"Trendy Evening" :: a multiple brand collaboration post
This past Monday night I attended a local fashion show put on by Lamb Boutique. I chose to wear these gold sequin pants I recently received from Beauxx. They were perfect for this event! I try not to go over the top when it comes to wearing trends, but I have found that really trendy items are perfect for a night out.
Evenings are also the perfect time for chunky jewelry, like this leather and gold bib necklace from Le Mode, and don’t forget your dramatic make up – bold eyes and lips? Don’t mind if I do! pssst. To create a darker lip, I dabbed some black eyeliner on after applying my lipstick and distributed the color with a brush.
"deceivingly comfy" :: a brand collaboration with internal and external links
Something that I’ve learned after many shopping mistakes, is to seek out items that will still look decent at the end of a long day. This Flamestitch and Ponte dress from Maggy London fits that description. The tight knit material doesn’t wrinkle, and it keeps it’s shape. It’s composition reminds me of one of my all-time favorite dresses from Banana Republic (post featuring it here). I was thrilled when I received this Maggy London dress and it reminded me so much of the B.R. one. It will be the perfect travel dress because it looks chic and is deceivingly comfortable. I know I will get a lot of use out of it!
Tip: If you are looking for a lot of versatility in your closet, keep your eye out for classic pieces that are comfortable, and won’t wrinkle as soon as you sit down. They will look great all day, and you’ll feel great, too! I think items like this are definitely worth investing in.
"One Skirt, Three Ways." :: A brand collaboration post with internal links
I recently recieved this skirt in the mail from Corilynn and have been so excited to share it with all of you! Like the Clementine Dress, I think sometimes people have a hard time being creative when it comes to styling knee length, high waisted skirts. I have put together a few options demonstrating different ways that several different women might wear this kind of skirt. The first look is styled for a young professional, the second for a student, and the third for a stylish mom!
Before I get to the looks, I would like to point out that the only pieces in these outfits that are changing are the tops and shoes. It’s amazing how much a look can change by simply swapping out a couple of items!
"The Clementine Dress: Day to Night" :: a brand collaboration post with external links
When Questhaven Fashions gave me the opportunity to select an item from the shop, I scoured their adorable inventory and selected the Clementine Dress. This 20s style dress stood out to me immediately! I love the soft color, the beading, and the pleated skirt.
Something else that made me want to feature this dress was to demonstrate ways to style it. I think sometimes people will see items that they really like, but aren’t sure what to wear with them, or where to wear them. I’ve styled up this gem in two different ways, one for a day off of work, and one for a weekend evening!
"My Easter Sunday Dress" :: a brand collaboration post
This spring I have the honor of collaborating with Banana Republic! As many of you know, I am an employee at Gap and since Banana Republic is owned by Gap, I shop there frequently. Their clothing is beautiful, professional, classy, and high quality. So when given the opportunity to represent them, you can bet I jumped at the chance!
I chose to feature the Linda Floral Dress from Banana’s spring collection. I love the fit of this dress. It’s very tailored, and features a pleated neckline, fitted waist (that actually hits at my waist) and a pencil skirt with a modest length. The shape is definitely my favorite part of the dress. It makes me feel so classic and sophisticated!
After I made a very slight, 3/4 of an inch, hem alteration (I’m 5’4″ but rarely order petite sizes), I wore it out to yesterday’s Easter church service. It was a little chilly and a lot windy outside, so I added a blazer. I liked the structured detail that the blazer added in contrast to the femininity of the floral print.
